The V15 Pro is Vivo’s newly announced mainstream flagship, and it brings some of the company’s high-end features from last year to a more accessible device. There’s a 32-megapixel pop-up selfie camera, a speedy in-display fingerprint sensor, a 48-megapixel main camera, and — of course — an OLED screen with no notch and barely any bezels.
To succeed at VR he had to recruit 3D modellers and animators, but that world was second nature to him. For a few years after taking his computer-science degree he had been a professional gamer, tag Cr@zyArab, joining the New Zealand e-sports team NewType to win several tournaments of “Counter-Strike: Source”, which pitched soldiers against terrorists. They would play for six or seven hours a night. He posted the best moments on YouTube, including the one where, darting through the streets of some Arab town, he took on Top Gun (who was looking the wrong way) and destroyed him with a terrific burst of semi-automatic fire.
The 3D Sense is a capable scanner, but it is limited by the capabilities of the scanning system it employs. The PrimeSense sensor it uses is capable of decent resolution, but it can’t detect and resolve the same level of fine detail that scanners like the MakerBot Digitizer or the David SLS-1 can; it just isn’t suited for scanning the smaller objects that these printers can. It can’t scan very large objects (bigger than about 10 feet), either, so it is best suited for subjects like people and statues. For these types of things, the 3D Sense does a great job of creating a decent 3D model. The process of scanning has its quirks, but it is generally easy to do once you figure them out, and it produces attractive 3D objects that can be quickly and easily printed.
The Einscan is a turntable-based structured light table top scanner which is very affordable. It can make high-quality scans, but the software is clunky and slow. It is a detailed scanner for the price point with some rough edges.
In addition to modifying the artificial 3D printed hairs by the pixel, Cilllia also experiments with their arrangement. As demonstrated in the diagram below, the group tried linear horizontal, linear diagonal, curved arch, curved waves and curved circular arrays of 3D printed hairs, each relating to a different potential movement.
This is where things become somewhat interesting. As discussed in the previous section, 3D printing takes a lot less time to manufacture a single unique component or prototype. However, traditional methods of manufacture are able to expedite the mass production of a finished part.

Although exactly how 3D printing adoption on a large scale would impact energy use is still uncertain, some studies suggest that it may reduce energy consumption over the lifecycle of a product. In one study, researchers from Michigan Technological University analyzed the energy required to print objects with a 3D printer compared to what was needed to manufacture them in a factory overseas and ship them to the U.S. The researchers found that printing the items took between 41 and 64 percent less energy. Part of this reduction was because 3D printing doesn’t require as much material, and part of it was due to the reduced need for shipping.
3D printing software facilitates the printing of 3D objects created inside of 3D modeling software by translating the model into data a 3D printer can understand. 3D printing software is also sometimes called slicer software because it breaks down a 3D model into sections, enabling a 3D printer to create the object slice by slice.
Germany’s BigRep, developer of large-scale 3D printers, promoted what it calls a significant breakthrough in thermoplastic extrusion (fused filament fabrication, or FFF): Its new, proprietary Metering Extruder Technology (MXT) will power its two new industrial 3D printers and “redefine additive manufacturing.”
